Essential Oils
We believe in the power of nature and Essential Oils (EO) being nature’s fragrant pharmacy long before the appearance of womankind.
EOs are naturally occuring, volatile aromatic compounds extracted from certain species of flowers, grasses, fruits, leaves, roots and trees.
On average an EO contains one hundred chemical components, Frankinsense for example more than two thousand. And since humans have evolved with EO our bodies are able to use the components needed and disregard others, which explains that an oil or blend can address seemingly contradictory conditions.
EOs are found in our food for flavouring and preservation, in beauty and health care products for their aromas and mood- and emotion-enhancing capacities. Many EOs are the active ingredient in pharmaceutical drugs or the inspiration for chemical copies.
Unlike chemical drugs EOs enter and leave the body with great efficiency, leaving no toxins behind.
But as we begin to understand the power of EOs in personal holistic healthcare we comprehend the absolute necessity of obtaining pure, therapeutic grade products.
It requires several hundred, sometimes several thousand kilos of plant material to extract 1 liter of pure essential oil. Because the vast majority of all oils produced are used for perfumes they are purchased for their aromatic qualitites only, resulting in premature harvesting, extraction with unnecessary high pressures and temperatures, rapid processing and the use of chemical solvents to gain greater quantities at faster and cheaper rates. These products might smell as good but will lack most, if not all compounds necessary for therapeutic use.
From my personal research and experience I believe the oils and blends of DoTerra are meeting the highest standards of purity. All oils and blends are “CPTG” (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) tested, certifying there are no remaining traces of added fillers, synthetic ingredients or harmful contaminants like germs, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides or adulterants.
I also support the ethical sourcing with partnerships of growers and distillers in over 40 countries as well as their charity “Healing Hands” supporting Micro-Loan programs, Anti-Human Trafficking and Feminine Hygiene.
